A 2010 Personal Journey through Proverbs

As Freedom’s Gate Ministries moves to fulfill the vision and the work that God has given to this congregation, this year I believe that God has given to me and the congregation a special mission for Freedom’s Gate Ministries. The mission for this year relates to Matthew 12:43-45 and the importance of cleaning out our temples, our houses, and then fully furnishing them with godliness, righteousness, God’s love, God’s truth, God’s joy, and God’s peace. It is only then that we can keep the enemy out of our houses and help others to keep him out of their houses. This is our goal through Jesus Christ for all of us in Freedom’s Gate Ministries for 2010 and beyond.

Matthew 12:43-45 KJV

    43. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places,           seeking rest, and he findeth none.
    44. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is           come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
    45. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than           himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse           than the first. Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation.

Matthew 12:43-45 NAS

    43. Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places,           seeking rest, and does not find it.
    44. Then it says, `I will return to my house from which I came'; and when it comes, it           finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order.
    45. Then it goes, and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself,           and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than           the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.

Matthew 12:43-45 Living Bible

This evil nation is like a man possessed by a demon. For if the demon leaves, it goes into the deserts for a while, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, `I will return to the man I came from.' So it returns and finds the man's heart clean but empty! Then the demon finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and all enter the man and live in him. And so he is worse off than before.

I am asking you to spend the rest of the year going through the Book of Proverbs together, furnishing our houses for God’s perfect work. You will study one (1) chapter for 2 weeks prayerfully. You will need to get a journal or notebook for this study. As you go through each chapter of Proverbs, you will answer these questions:

    1) What is God saying to me?
    2) How can I apply this to my life?
    3) What will I have to let go of to apply this to my life?
    4) How can I be used to help others reach God?

Some of your answers to these questions will be short answers at first, but as you move deeper into the study they will become more detailed.

How much furniture you want in your house will depend on your willingness and enthusiasm to seek God’s will in your life and to study His word.

Matthew 6:33, KJV

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
